چکیده

Background: In patients undergoing neurosurgeries, inflammation and infection are strongly related; however, can be present without infection. Midregional proadrenomedullin (MR-proADM) is a relatively new sepsis biomarker that rarely used clinically. Recently, the concept of DiffTemp was introduced, is, >1°C rise from individual normal temperature accompanied by malaise, as more accurate definition assessed fever. The aim study to examine importance C-reactive protein (CRP), white blood cells, procalcitonin, MR-proADM levels DiffTemp. Methods: This prospective, comparative had quantitative approach. Forty-two patients, aged >18 years presenting with severe cerebral trauma were included neurosurgery intensive care unit. outcome variable infection; group 0, no (n=11); 1, suspected (n=15); and, 2, confirmed (n=16). Group assignments performed using biomarkers, medical records, bacterial cultures, International Classification Diseases-10, clinical assessment criteria for nosocomial infections neurosurgeon. Results: On comparing groups 1 associated higher risk (odds ratio, 5.41 17.14, respectively). Additionally, 90.9% specificity in 93.8% sensitivity infections. CRP procalcitonin not an increased infection. Conclusion: Increased having

Effects of Vitamin D Supplementation on Depression Status, Selected Pro-inflammatory Biomarkers and Neurotransmitters in Depressive Patients: A Study Protocol

Background and Objectives: Up to date, several pathophysiological mechanisms are suggested for evolution of depression, including inflammation, neurotransmitter and vitamin D pathways. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of vitamin D supplementation on serum 25-hydroxycalciferol [25(OH) D], intact parathyroid hormone (iPTH), some pro-inflammatory biomarkers and neurotransmitters su...
